Officers assigned to the sheriff's office's Judicial Services Domestic Violence Unit were recently tipped off that Dennis Lee Jalbert, 44, who was wanted in connection to the violations involving a Charles County resident, was in North Carolina.
Investigators say that the officers contacted the State's Attorney's Office, which agreed to extradite him back to Maryland to face charges following his arrest in North Carolina.
According to a spokesperson from the sheriff's office, Jalbert’s case began in April 2024 when a protective order was filed by a Charles County resident; however, despite that order, he continued to harass and inundate his victim over the span of six months with calls and texts.
During the investigation, the sheriff's office received 11 reports and obtained eight arrest warrants, with three criminal summonses issued.
Charges include violations of a protective order, harassment, and telephone misuse. Jalbert was extradited from North Carolina to Charles County in October where a district court commissioner released him on an unsecured $1,500 bond.
